Today Walmart announced their plans to close 269 of their store around the world. While this does come as a shock, more shocking perhaps is that FIVE of those stores are located in and/or around the Wichita area.
Walmart Store Closings around the world include:
23 – Neighborhood Markets
12 – Supercenters
7 – stores in Puerto Rico
6 – discount centers
4 – Sam’s Clubs
Is Walmart hurting for money? Nope. They are simply closing the stores that are gaining them the least profit. They do, however, intend to open 50-60 Supercenters AND 85-95 Neighborhood Markets in the 2017 Fiscal Year, which begins on February 1st. They plan to open 200-400 new stores internationally as well.
